About this place
Whether you are finishing a meal or stopping for a café break, Cafe Cheonghak-dong serves Korean food alongside coffee and sweets. At lunchtime, options include kimchi jjigae with pork and sundubu-jjigae. One diner reported that the sundubu-jjigae, priced at 990 yen, came with rice and side dishes, making it a substantial choice. The stews vary: there is kimchi jjigae with pork, seafood sundubu and sundubu with dumplings. Some diners have asked for a milder version, so if you are concerned about the heat, it may be worth asking when you order.
One diner described the Korean-style pork cutlet as a thick cut of meat topped with plenty of sweet-and-spicy sauce, and said it went well with rice. It was also served with shredded cabbage, kimchi and miso soup, making it one to consider if you want a filling lunch. For something after your meal, or during a café visit, try the hotteok with nuts. A diner remembered its chewy dough and cinnamon-scented filling; it can also be enjoyed with a hot drink. For coffee, there is dalgona coffee topped with karumeyaki, a traditional Japanese sugar sweet. One customer found it sweet and nostalgic. Affogato, with espresso poured over cream, is also on the menu.
Shaved ice comes in flavours such as mango, azuki bean and strawberry. One diner who tried the mango version enjoyed its fluffy texture and the contrast with the cream. The chance to take your time choosing a dessert after a meal is another feature of the café.
